A Brooklyn sanitation worker was attacked on the job Wednesday when three men whacked him with a bat and stole his cellphone, police said.
The 42-year-old city worker was targeted by the trio while collecting trash with his coworker, 43, near Milford Street and Pitkin Avenue in East New York early Wednesday morning, according to cops.
Before the beatdown, the victim had gotten into an argument with two women, police sources said.
The suspects then showed up in a red Chrysler 300 sedan, collectively armed with a knife, baseball bat and golf club, police said. They used the bat and club to pounce on the victim.
Surveillance footage of the attack provided by police shows one suspect strike just as the worker picked up several bags of garbage from the sidewalk.
Two other men approach from the opposite side, one visibly armed with a bat. As they close in on the 43-year-old worker, he motions with hands for them to stop, video shows.
The duo then head to the 42-year-old. One of the men swings the weapon at least once, before the other worker intervenes.
The assailants made off with the victim’s Samsung Galaxy cellphone, police said.
The 43-year-old sanitation worker who came to the victim’s assistance was menaced by the men while doing so, police said. He was unharmed.
